| featured artist | marianne luther |Marianne Luther serves as the President of our Board of Directors. A retired educator, Marianne is a passionate ceramic enthusiast and is helping to advance the development of the new Clayworks ceramics studio on the lower floor of the Foothills Arts Center. I produce both functional pottery and decorative pieces. The functional pots usually reflect either an Oriental or an architectural aesthetic, while the wall pieces have either botanical or geometric themes. If the opportunity arises, I also produce nonfunctional, decorative pots subjected to alternate firing methods like raku and saggar. I lean toward simple, uncluttered, sparsely glazed pots. My creative philosophy is to allow nature to be my guide. — Marianne Luther
