WE DID IT!

Thanks to your generous support, our Giving Tuesday Triple the Love fundraiser resulted in an entire month of charitable contributions, raising an incredible $29,590 in support of the visual and performing arts and preservation of the remarkable handcrafted heritage in our community!

We want to thank G&B Energy and FAC Board President Marianne Luther for generously giving $10,000 each in matching funds, and our wonderful friends and community members for taking full advantage of this rare matching opportunity to raise a total of $29,590 for the Foothills Arts Center. — Dan Butner, Executive Director

Exciting developments are underway for the new Foothills Arts Center at Historic Chatham Mill. The beloved landmark that serves as our new home is undergoing repairs and improvements designed to make

| where | The Studio at 113, 113 W Main St, Elkin, NC 28621

| details | Small Expressions is an annual juried exhibition showcasing contemporary small-scale works using fiber techniques in any media. Small in scale but visually compelling, the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc.’s (HGA) Small Expressions exhibit features work that speaks to the intricacy of expression, intimacy of design, thoughtful communication, and visual excitement.

Furthermore, tour the studios of Leslie Fesperman, fiber artist/Yadkin Valley Fiber Center, and studio of Danny Kerr, metalsmith/Mountain High Metals.

| who | Instructed by Joe Thrift; this class is perfect for local or regional students who want to learn if violin making is right for them

| when | Students may choose to enroll in either morning, afternoon, or evening classes

| where | Foothills School of Violin Making at the Foothills Arts Center, temporarily located on the lower level of 111 West Main Street, Elkin North Carolina 28621

This course is self-paced. Multiple semesters are required for most students to complete their first hand-built violin.

This course is self-paced. Multiple semesters are required for most students to complete their first hand-build violin.

Rigid heddle weavers will learn how to upgrade the Cricket Loom to four shafts and learn the basics of weaving with more than two shafts.

Friday-Sunday, March 3-5 | click the image for more information and registration

This 2½-day course explores rag rug history and multiple patterns found in old loom manuals.

Monday-Friday, March 13-17 | click the image for more information and registration

Learn to weave rag rug style in this beginning course. Students will have the option of weaving a set of placemats or a table runner. Experienced beginners needed a refresher may choose to weave a rug.

Saturday, March 25 | click the image for more information and registration

A creative day of wrapping and embellishing river stones.
