Class materials are included; students will receive a material resource list to aid them in further study. Students will learn fundamental watercolor techniques as they apply to plein air paintings including:

Materials required for watercolor plein air drawings, and suggestions for preservation of completed work.
Basic color theory and how to build layers of color and create contrast.
Tricks for identifying values within a drawing and establishing tonal ranges to build perceived depth.
How to choose your subject matter when approaching a landscape, along with assistance identifying focal points, including when, where, and how to emphasize detail.

During the class, students can expect to compete or nearly complete a watercolor painting of a photographed landscape.
