Spark the Arts

We are excited to share that the Foothills Arts Center has been awarded a Spark The Arts Grant from the North Carolina Arts Council. The North Carolina Arts Council announced support for 130 nonprofit organizations through their new Spark The Arts grant category during the 2022-2023 fiscal year. In total, the Arts Council is investing $2,484,071 to support programming centered around audience re-engagement and inclusion. Grant amounts range from $3,000 to $30,000.

The arts spark vitality, healing, and fellowship. These qualities are what kept North Carolina’s arts sector resilient through the pandemic. The Spark the Arts grant category places a special emphasis on strategies to engage audiences and participants in this effort.

Our Spark the Arts grant funding will reactivate, expand, and deepen the quality of learning experienced by youth and adult students, with funds split evenly between four programs: ceramics, fiber arts, violin luthier, and youth art. We are so honored to be a recipient of the Spark the Arts grant!

| details | Let’s do a Lantern Walk! Many countries and cultures over the world use lanterns as part of their celebrations. This is also the same day/night as the February Full Moon.

This is the rescheduled event and fundraiser for Foothills Art Center. Golden Roads Vineyard wanted to have this event on a significant day, which is the culmination of Lunar New Celebration, also known as the Lantern Festival.

Purchase a lantern to benefit the FAC ($12) and tea light and enjoy warm wine and a gorgeous walk looking at the full moon and beautiful scenery of Golden Road Vineyards and its surrounding terroir.

Rigid heddle weavers will learn how to upgrade the Cricket Loom to four shafts and learn the basics of weaving with more than two shafts.

This 2½-day course explores rag rug history and multiple patterns found in old loom manuals.

Monday-Friday, March 13-17 | click the image for more information and registration

Learn to weave rag rug style in this beginning course. Students will have the option of weaving a set of placemats or a table runner. Experienced beginners needed a refresher may choose to weave a rug.
